FEAL Emergency Response to Lebanon Crisis

Taken from the Good Samaritan Relief Ministry report by Danny Saab of Free Evangelical Association of Lebanon (FEAL).
War Overview and Impact
Lebanon is facing an urgent humanitarian crisis. The war has dramatically escalated across the country. Since early March 2026, fighting has intensified, especially in the south, the Bekka Valley, and the southern suburbs of Beirut. More than one million people (about one in every six living in Lebanon) have been forced from their homes, many carrying nothing but the clothes they had on. Families are fleeing for their lives, leaving behind homes, belongings, and their entire lives.
The human cost of this conflict is heartbreaking. Reports indicate that over 850 people have lost their lives, including children, women, journalists, and even volunteers from the Red Cross. Thousands more have been wounded. Entire neighborhoods have been emptied as families seek shelter in schools, safer areas, or with relatives. Many families who were already refugees, especially Syrians and other displaced groups, have been uprooted again, facing renewed uncertainty and fear.
Life for those displaced is extremely difficult. Work has disappeared, leaving families unable to provide food, shelter, or healthcare. Children are no longer attending school, and parents carry the heavy burden of fear and trauma. In many areas, several families live together in crowded rooms, sharing what little they have, often without legal protections to claim their rights. Yet even in this suffering, God’s light can be seen.
FEAL Response and Relief Efforts
Through our churches’ outreach, we continue to meet families who are not only in need of physical support but also hungry for hope because of this Crisis. That is why FEAL, through the Good Samaritan Relief initiative, has mobilized our five local Free Evangelical churches to bring aid and hope to the most vulnerable.
Our plan is to support 250 affected families over the next three months with monthly food packages, each valued at $30, ensuring that families facing hunger have something to eat. In addition, we will distribute 250 blankets to protect families from the cold and provide a small fund for urgent medical needs.
The total budget for this response is $26,100, covering three months of food, blankets, and a small emergency medical aid. Church teams will oversee distributions, maintain records, and follow up with families to ensure accountability and care. We will also provide updates, photos, and testimonies to show the tangible and spiritual impact of your support.
Story of Displaced Families’ Reality
We visited a Syrian refugee family that lives in Lebanon. They said they fled Baalbek overnight after a warning of imminent bombardment, leaving everything behind and walking long distances to safety. Now displaced in Beirut, nine people are crowded into one small room with almost no income. Their children’s education has stopped, and work opportunities have disappeared. Unable to return home and fearing worse conditions in Syria, they remain in a state of deep uncertainty and vulnerability.
From First Response to Real Impact
One such moment of encouragement came when we met a young girl named Julia, from a Shiite background, who attends a Christian school. She joyfully sang a worship song for her family and our team, and her parents listened with open hearts as the Gospel was shared. When we gave Julia an illustrated children’s Bible, her eyes lit up with joy; a small but powerful reminder that God is working even in the darkest moments.
Even amidst the fear, uncertainty, and suffering, the Lord continues to open doors, and we remain committed to walking alongside the families we will be serving, bringing physical relief, encouragement, and the Good News of Jesus Christ.
