As part of the ministry of the EFCC, benevolent financial assistance may sometimes be provided to individuals or families who are in a time of crisis or who are experiencing financial or material needs. Reading Revelation Responsibly

Revelation is weird! Talk about Scripture with followers of Jesus today, and it won’t take long before you hear this sort of opinion. Could believers have these sorts of experiences not because of the content of Revelation, but – as Michael Gorman points out in Reading Revelation Responsibly – because of our lack of awareness of its context – both in Scripture and to the world around us. See Tyler Harper’s review of Michael Gorman’s book here.

A Church Called TOV

A book so good we had to do another review, but this time by Tyler Harper, EFCC Associate Leadership Catalyst. In Genesis 1, God calls all that he creates TOV, or “Good.” This book shows how our church communities can live out this reality in the broken world we live within. This book was written by our past Theology Conference speaker, Scot McKnight, with Laura Barringer. Read Tyler’s take on this wonderful piece of literature.

Praying for the Leaders of Tomorrow

“The harvest is great, but the workers are few. So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask him to send more workers into his fields.” (Luke 10:2) As we move through the summer months, we invite you to join us in praying for the leaders of tomorrow. Pray for those recently elected to serve within the EFCC and for Project: LEAD, which helps fund leadership training and student bursaries. We are grateful for the eight bursaries awarded through the Albert Bergsma Legacy Fund this year and pray for continued support so more students can be equipped for ministry.

Missionaries in Canada, really?

A far more significant question is: Why??? Dan Byrne, who leads ministries like “Ottawa City Church Network” and “Ottawa Evangelism Partnership” as part of the EFCC ServeCanada initiatives, shares authentic experiences of working with marginalized individuals. He often encounters questions such as, “Am I important to you? or “Do you truly care?” Amidst frequently chaotic ministry environment, he provides insight into his purpose.
