What is a Disciple?
“Jesus called out to them, “Come, follow me, and I will show you how to fish for people!” (Matthew 4:19 NLT)
We are disciples who make disciples.
Disciple making is entering into relationships to intentionally help people follow Jesus, be changed by Jesus, and join the mission of Jesus (Matt. 28:18-20).

The central focus of Steve’s role is making the connection between “Christian” as a believer who confesses faith and confesses personal faith (to the standard of the EFCC statement of faith) and “Disciple” as a follower, who is learning to do all that Jesus commanded us to do in committed relationship to the local church (to the standard of the EFCC character and calling / EFCC ethos).
Chris Yu is a long serving pastor for 25 years in the EFCC. The last decade his ministry has been urban inner city church planting and disciple-making in Toronto, focusing on being a Gospel presence for the marginalized and disadvantaged. He is dedicated and desires to make disciples who make disciples and raise up generations that do the same.
How do we make discipleship the main thing in the local church? This is the challenge Calvin has been journeying through in his ministry. He desires to help the church grow in obedience to the Great Commandment, in its passion for the Great Commission, and in the vibrancy and transformation of every believer’s life.
Growing up in the church and having been called into ministry, Josh continues his lifelong journey as a disciple – always learning and growing more and more to follow Jesus. He has a desire to make disciples especially in connecting with those outside of the church and exploring how we can share Jesus with them. Josh loves being part of the church called to be disciples who make disciples. He lives with his family in the Vancouver area as part of the Lower Pacific District (LPD) and strives to foster discipleship in all that he does.
Being a disciple of Jesus has been a passion of Rob’s for as long as he can remember. He often challenges himself to evaluate if he is becoming less so that Jesus becomes more. He has a desire to see the Church regain the life that comes from pursuing the command from Jesus to “go make disciples.” Out of this desire Rob hopes to see pastors experience greater joy in ministry and congregations to be fully engaged in what it means to live like Jesus lived.
Keith has a motivating focus as he serves in ministry: helping people to know and follow Jesus as a disciple of Christ. Keith gauges what discipleship looks like on the basis of Jesus’ commission to the church to make disciples who confess Christ, who follow him as their King, and who experience his presence daily (Matthew 28:18-20). Keith believes that these qualities are to be part of each disciple and seeks to nurture them in all aspects of his ministry.
