Engaging in Short-Term or Part-Time Missions with ServeBeyond
“I want to go on a short-term mission (STM) to work with EFCC missionaries and projects, or I want to serve globally on a part-time basis. How do I do that?”
Please plan for a minimum of 6 months from contact to departure. This allows the time to screen individuals, adhere to liability insurance regulations and prepare you well before you join in active ministry. Our goal in doing this is to enhance ministries God has entrusted to the EFCC with great short-term servants.
It is the desire of ServeBeyond, the international mission of the EFCC, to help you engage in ministry fitted with your gifting and our areas of need. Start by filling out our Preliminary Contact Form and we will be in touch to answer your questions and discuss how your gifts & abilities could be used.
We determine a good fit for you by discussing a potential location, approximate dates & ministry project(s) with the appropriate EFCC Host Missionary and Manager of Personnel and Projects (MPP). Current Opportunities to Serve are online.
Next, we walk you through our application process which involves an application, 3 references and a criminal record check. This is how we get to know you and your community’s support of you for this experience.
An informal interview is held with the MPP, by phone or by Zoom. It’s a time to ask a few simple questions to learn more about you & a time for you to ask us questions!
After approval, the MPP will lead you through material to help you arrive ready & prepared. Reading, talking, watching videos – there are many ways we resource you for your cross-cultural adventure.
The MPP & Host Missionary calculate your Ministry Account Budget (MAB) which includes your travel to and from the country, costs on the field and allocation*.We’ll coach you on how to build your support team to ensure that your ministry is well funded. When necessary, we will recommend a school for language fluency. You will be commissioned by your sending church. We will also assist with flights, visas, and other details.
The moment you’ve been preparing for arrives. We pray for & commission you for your trip & away you go!
Time to unpack your bags & your trip! Debriefing is a crucial part of your journey, so we spend time helping you process your experience, apply the lessons learned & integrate them into life for kingdom purposes & sharing with others.
The EFCC wants to see you succeed in ministry! We therefore operate as fairly as possible by including allocation at a moderate level on all funds donated for ministry projects. This helps cover costs for the preparation, operation & direction of our entire Global Mission. Additional money is given through direct donations to the EFCC Operational Budget by individuals & churches. We expect all people who join a ministry opportunity with the EFCC will willingly & joyfully participate in the costs associated with their ministry. (Allocation is charged as a percentage of donations.)
