Serve24 might be the opportunity you’re looking for!
WHAT
What is Serve24? It is a brand-new initiative. Serve24 combines academic instruction through Prairie College (10 months), and practical, team-based experience with our ServeBeyond missionaries (14 months). Named for its 24-month commitment, Serve24 results in a Diploma in Intercultural Studies (DIS), and 60 credit hours from Prairie College. Those credits may be applied to other programs offered by Prairie College if you wish to pursue further education. As a partnership between the EFCC and Prairie College, bursary support for Serve24 may be available through the Albert J. Bergsma Legacy Fund.
Serve24 Program Overview (24 months)
WHY?
Why was Serve24 established? The purpose of Serve24 is to prepare you: to engage globally within Canadian churches or to work as a long-term missionary, to participate in community cross-culturally, to improve on intercultural skills and competencies, to explore your unique sense of calling, and to develop your gifts and strengths. It offers an overview in world religions, training in engaging other faiths, cultures and traditions respectfully, and help developing conversational ways to share your faith.
WHERE?
Academic instruction takes place at Prairie College in Three Hills, Alberta. Where can you serve? A team of up to four apprentices could be placed to serve in sports ministries and church planting in Kenya, community development and church planting in Mexico, working with immigrants in southern Spain, and church planting in Eastern Europe. These are just some of the immediate possibilities where your team might be placed during your apprenticeship.
WHEN?
Below are important dates to keep track of. As you consider the year you are wanting to join, keep in mind that your fundraising* will be an essential piece of your journey. Building a prayer and financial team will play a big role in the success of your apprenticeship.
*Fundraising to cover costs
Missionaries serving with the EFCC are responsible to fundraise for the cost of their ministries, and as an intern, so are you. You’ll need to fundraise between $1,500/mo and $2,500/mo. Our EFCC team will help train you in fundraising. Indeed, learning how to raise funds for ministry is a core component of the Serve24 experience.
HOW?
Go through the application process. Build a team of prayer and financial supporters (for this, and hopefully for your future service in global intercultural work). Interested? Fill out the Serve24 Contact Form now.
