WHAT

What is Serve24? It is a brand-new initiative, Serve24 combines academic instruction through Prairie College (10 months), and practical, team-based experience with our ServeBeyond missionaries (14 months). Named for its 24-month commitment, Serve24 results in a Diploma in Intercultural Studies (DIS), and 60 credit hours from Prairie College. Those credits may be applied to other programs offered by Prairie College if you wish to pursue further education. As a partnership between the EFCC and Prairie College, bursary support for Serve24 may be available through the Albert J. Bergsma Legacy Fund.

WHY?

Why was Serve24 established? Serve24 was established to prepare long-term missionaries; engage globally within Canadian churches. To help engage cross-culturally and improve on intercultural skills and competencies. To explore ones unique sense of calling, and to develop ones gifts and strengths. It offers an overview in world religions – how we engage other faiths and traditions respectfully and to help develop conversational ways to share one’s faith

WHERE?

Academic instruction takes place in Prairie College in Three Hills, Alberta. Where can you serve? A team of up to four apprentices can start serving in sports ministries and church planting in Kenya, community development and church planting in Mexico, working with immigrants in southern Spain, and community development in eastern Europe. These are just some of the immediate possibilities where your team can serve during your apprenticeship.

WHEN?

What year are you wanting to join – you need to initiate fundraising; this is an essential piece, and your progress in this apprenticeship will be dependent on fundraising success. Below are important dates to keep track of.

Interview / Orientation of Approved Candidates
This may take place at the EFCC Home Office or another designated location (TBD).
September (2024)
Start of Academic School Year
July (2025)
Language Study & Training
Mid-July of the second year of Serve24 Program being when apprentices would travel the field for one year. This may be on-site or off-site, depending on circumstances.
